What is the difference between single fold and double fold bias tape?
Single fold has both long edges pressed toward the center and is used for facings and casings. Double fold is folded once more down the middle, so it wraps around a raw edge for binding.

How much binding do I need for a quilt?
Measure around all four sides of your quilt and add about 12 inches for corners and joining. A 60" x 70" throw needs about 272 inches, or roughly 7½ yards.

Do I need bias binding for a quilt with straight edges?
No. Straight-grain binding works well on straight edges. Bias binding is best for curves and scalloped edges because it stretches smoothly around them.

How do I sew on beaded trim?
Hand-stitch it in place, or machine-stitch only along the plain edge so the needle doesn't hit a bead. Press from the back with a press cloth on low heat to protect sequins and beads.
