Ordering and Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay.
Is it safe to order on your website?
Yes. Every session on our site is encrypted, and card payments are processed securely by our payment providers at checkout.
Why can't I complete my purchase?
The most common reasons are an item selling out while it's in your cart, a typo in your billing address or ZIP code, an expired card, or a spending limit on your card (including limits some banks place on online purchases). Double-check your details, try another card, or call your bank. Still stuck? Contact us and we'll help you finish your order.
The price changed on an item in my cart. Can I get the old price?
Prices can change because of sales, clearance and seasonal specials, so a price is locked in only once you've completed checkout and received your confirmation email. Browse our current sale fabric for today's deals.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes, if it hasn't shipped yet. Email info@myfabricvilla.com as soon as possible with your order number. Orders move quickly, so if yours has already shipped, email us anyway and we'll find a way to help.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes. Our gift cards come in amounts from $10 to $250 and are delivered by email, so they make a great last-minute gift for any quilter or sewist.
Do you have a rewards program?
Yes. With Royalty Rewards, you earn 2 Royal Bucks for every $1 you spend, and every 100 Royal Bucks is worth $1 off. Points never expire. Just create a free account and be logged in when you check out.
Fabric Cuts, Yardage and Swatches
What's the smallest amount of fabric I can buy?
On many fabrics, the smallest cut is a fat quarter (18" x 21"). If you need an amount that isn't offered on a listing, contact us and we'll set up a custom order.
If I order several yards, will it be one continuous piece?
Yes. If you order 3 yards, you'll get one continuous 3-yard piece. If we can't cut it in one piece, we'll contact you for approval before shipping. Want it in separate pieces instead? Place separate orders for each length.
Do you sell fabric swatches?
We don't offer swatches, but you can order as little as a fat quarter to see and feel a fabric in person. Keep in mind that many fabrics are limited and may not be available later, so if you love it, it's worth ordering what you need.
Can I order more than what shows in stock?
Often, yes. Email info@myfabricvilla.com or call (281) 853-9786 with the SKU or item number. We'll check whether more is coming in or available from our vendors, and set up a custom order to reserve it for you.
Why does fabric look different on my screen?
Every monitor and phone shows color a little differently. If an exact match matters, contact us for help, or visit our Richmond store to see the fabric in person.
Choosing the Right Fabric
What is a fat quarter?
A fat quarter is an 18" x 21" piece of fabric, made by cutting a half yard in half the other way. It's wider than a regular quarter yard (9" x 42"), which makes it easier to cut bigger shapes and fussy-cut prints. Shop fat quarters and fat quarter bundles.
What are precuts like jelly rolls, charm packs and layer cakes?
Precuts are coordinated bundles cut to standard sizes: charm packs are 5" squares, jelly rolls are 2½" strips, and layer cakes are 10" squares. They save cutting time and give you a whole fabric collection in one bundle. See our precut size guide.
How much fabric do I need for a quilt?
It depends on your pattern, so always check its yardage chart. As a rough guide for backing, a throw quilt (about 60" x 70") needs about 4⅓ yards of standard-width fabric or 2 yards of 108" wide backing, and a queen quilt needs about 2¾ to 3 yards of 108" wide backing. See our full backing yardage chart, or contact us and we'll help you figure it out.
What is 108" wide quilt backing?
Wide backing is about 108" wide, so a single piece can cover the back of most quilts from throws to queens with no seams to sew. Browse our 108" wide quilt backing.
What's the best fabric for quilting?
Most quilters use 100% quilting cotton, which is easy to cut, press and sew. Batiks add rich color and are great for appliqué, solids make clean backgrounds, and flannel makes extra-cozy quilts.
What fabric is best for sewing clothes?
For lightweight tops and dresses, try cotton lawn or voile. For flowy, drapey garments, choose rayon. For relaxed summer pieces, linen is a favorite. For bags and aprons, sturdy canvas holds its shape.
Should I prewash my fabric?
Prewash fabric for clothing and anything you'll wash often, since it removes sizing and preshrinks the fabric. Deep reds, navies and dark batiks can release dye, so wash them in cold water with a color catcher sheet. Most quilters don't prewash precuts, because small pieces can fray.
Can you help me pick coordinating fabrics?
We'd love to. Send us the fabrics you're considering and your pattern through our contact page, and we'll suggest coordinating prints, solids and binding.
